                                  QUICK FACTS ABOUT ROTARY MAHANAGAR

………… to ensure a smile to every being at every stage of their lives is at the core of the existence of Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar.

Now in its 26th year of carrying of dedicated work to serve above self, the club has touched lives at all Stages.

                                  •                        We have touched a tender child to mend the hole in his heart. Our concerted efforts to immunize each and every child with polio drop is now bringing in the desired result and India is now polio free, 3rd year running.
                                  •                        As a child grows we reach out to them so their education does not suffer for wants of resources through our scholarship program Udaan. For the growing ones who have fallen apart from the society for crimes committed by their parents. Our program Muskaan provides them reasons to smile. We uphold the dignity of a girl child by providing clean toilet at municipal school.
                                  •                      Through our vocational centers and micro credits we give the grownups hope to earn their living and to lead of life as responsible citizen. Unemployed youth gets training in computers, nursing courses, driving lessons, stitching etc, to give those means to earn then and fend.
                                  •                     We reach out to the older ones through our Eye Hospital where free IDL surgeries are done. Through, our several health camps, we have detected and treated patients suffering from diverse disease.
                                  •                    Our city and its environment is precious to us. Mahanagar Peace Park adds serenity to this beautiful city. And the plants that we sow help oxygenate the city and reduce pollution.  We reach out the villages to light their homes.
                                  •                     What we can avoid are calamities befalling upon communities. We however are the first ones to reach them with our shelter kits.

The initiatives have brought smiles to distraught faces and lessened their agony by sharing their pain. This initiative has been possible because of the whole hearted support of the club members. Spouses Rotary family at dist 3291 and Rotary International and the several partners  in service from different walks of life, without whom , a lot of what have been achieved may not has been possible.

We would invite larger participation of every person who is touched by the activities of the club and wishes to strengthen our hand in taking the activities forward with even more resource and resolve to bring about a meaningful change in the lives and surrounding around us.
