About Rotary Club Of Calcutta Mahanagar
Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar is the 2nd largest Club in District 3291 with a strength of over 90 members.
Some of our flagship projects include :-
- Healing Little Hearts : 130 successful surgeries valued at Rs.1.5 lakh each have been carried out till November 2008 in the best hospitals of the city and 50 more will be done in this Rotary Year.
- Created 500 homes for Tsunami affected people in Hutbay Island in Andaman & Nicobar and sent relief materials of more than 50 Tonnes to Port Blair for Tsunami affected people.
- Sent more than 2000 Shelter Kits to flood affected areas of Bihar & Orissa
- Sent relief material of more than Rs.80 lacs to Kashmir during earthquake and provided hands on service there.
- Creating Healing Hands : Providing scholarships to 300 budding and meritorious Doctors from rural areas in association with Asia Heart Foundation.
- Muskaan : Providing educational and developmental support to children of prison inmates.
- Providing Computers to needy schools
- CLE : Thousands of children benefitting under our matching grant under the guidance Padmashree Sister Cyril (Our Hony. Member).
- Free Eye Check ups : More than 30,000.
- IOL Operations : About 3000 and more still happening.
- Modern Eye Hospital coming up in the city.
- Frequent Medical check ups, including Diabetes, Hypertension, every one Sunday in a month, averaging about 3,500 check ups.
- 12 Medical Camps annually, checking about 7,500 patients in & around Kolkata & suburbs.
- Artificial limbs have been provided to more than 2000 people over the years.
- Free 24 x 7 Ambulance.
- Refurbished The Oral School for The Deaf and given high tech hearing aids and other equipment at a cost of Rs. 8.50 lacsl.
- Pay & Use Toilet at Park Street with KMC
- Project Dignity : 108 Toilets being constructed for Girl students in run down KMC Schools
- Cold Drinking Water Kiosks at Park Street Crossing and at Gol Park.
- Tubewell in Bolepur (Santhal District), West Bengal.
- Filtered Water to School Children of 3 schools.
- Vocational Training to ladies on a sustained basis.
- Donation of 100 Sewing Machines to ladies in rural Bengal & 100 Cycle Vans to unemployed rural youth under micro credit.
- Promoted Self Help Groups and provided employment opportunities to more than 300 ladies from villages.
- Soft loans are given to artisan and craftswomen.
- A vibrant and active Interact Club – building the future.
- Further acceleration and continuity of CLE, IOL & Water Projects.
