MATCHING GRANT PROJECTS 2007 – 08

   HEALING LITTLE HEARTS

a) Matching Grant No – 62,157

b) Purpose – To provide heart surgeries for little children from poor income families. Thousands of children in India are born with a whole in the heart and unless this anomaly is addressed through surgery the child cannot live beyond a few years. Surgery however can ensure a healthy and long life to the child. Each such surgery would normally cost $ 3000 to 3500 where as Income of the family is just $ 50 to 70. After a great effort RCC Mahanagar has been able to bring down the cost to $ 1111 or Rs 50,000. So far the club has done more than 80 surgeries from its own resources / donation but the need is very huge.
