Flagship Project Netralaya

Eyecare has always been one of the focus areas of our Club. We understand what it can mean for a person not being able to see and we have felt that the joy of being able to make someone see again in life is indeed unmatched. Spearheaded by our member Rtn. Gyan Poddar who himself is blind, we have done eye checkups for more than 1.5 lac persons and surgeries to more than 5000 people in the last five years.

With our experience in eye screening, medical assistance and eye surgeries we are now in the verge of opening our permanent eye care centre, Rotary Calcutta Mahanagar Netralaya at Beliaghata. We aim to do at least 2000 eye surgeries every year for the poorest of the poor providing them the highest standards in eye care free of cost. The hospital will also have an OPD and be equally adept in serving paying patients. We are going to tie up with renowned Eye Hospitals and Doctors for technological know how.

The total investment in the project will be around 2 Crores, which is being raised through contribution from our members and Donors. We also propose to get fund through Matching Grant from Rotary International.
